I guess you all remember this! I thought it would be a good time to have a family get together!
Sorry I haven't been doing any entries lately! We went to Winnipeg for Shelby's visit and came back totally pooped! Poor Guin had a really bad cold and cough and is slowly getting better. We did some nice shopping, always great for us girlies!
The weather today is not good--wet and quite cool--high of 4 C for today forecast. We are getting some candies ready in case the grandkids come over--they usually do. Guin and Allen went out last night with their friends and dressed up--Guin was a scuba diver and Allen had on a horrible mask that Cary had lent him--long grey hair and a nasty face!
I have to break for lunch!

Second try!
yesterday was Jeremy's 5th birthday--how time flies! We all had hamburgers and birthday cake and then the best part for the birthday boy--opening presents! we had bought him some clothes and a little packsack for his trip. I think his favourite present was his Spider Man shooter gun! He was laughing himself silly shooting his 'targets' of running people--outside of course! It was very realistic spider string! Brad took some video photos with his digital camera--amazing!
It is another wet day, around 5 C. On Tuesday we leave for Winnipeg as Shelby has another appointment with the specialist;. Guin has very kindly offered to drive us up so it will be a bit kinder to my old bod than the bus!
We are still enjoying the TV programme "Lost". Last week's episode was very good- some surprises in the plot!
Here is a word for my young bloggers, "entourage". Here is one for you older bloggers! "discombobulated"--phew! I could hardly spell that one!
I will have to type out the answer to the Logic puzzle tomorrow as I am too tired to retype it!
Have a good evening everyone!
Tomorrow, I will tell you about the concerts we have seen this week in the new auditorium.
Bye! Carol, Cas, Mom, Grandma! xoxo :)

Tonight we just watched the first two episodes of "Lost", Allen had ripped it--it was quite spooky and I am looking forward to episode 3!
Has anyone else seen this show on CTV ? It is on on Wednesday nightl
So far two people have got my Logic puzzle right and one person has it half right! I'll give out the answers on Thursday and post another puzzle on Friday for the week!
Steph had a good sleepover and went home full of junk food and goggle eyed from watching the "Sims"!
I am tiring now , so will say goodnight to you all! xoxo
P.S. I call myself Yorkshire Lass as we lived in Yorkshire, England from the time I was 8 yrs. old to when I was 16 yrs. old. That would be from 1943 to 1951. As you can see these years encompass the War years and my major growing up years and are full of memories. Although Yorkshire was very industrialized then and there were lots of mill chimneys, which I used to hate, there were also vast tracts of forest and moor land and part of me got to love the wild countryside. I went back for a visit there with my sister, Sallie, when she was alive and we were astoundedd to find that the old house we used to live in was still there. (It used to be an old vicarage)/ We were very close to Haworth where the Brontes used to live and wrote their famous books.

This axolotl is a salamander that mates and grows without shedding its gills! Guin said it looks like something Jim Henson would have created! I think it looks very friendly!
Here is another common mix-up in grammar! It's and its--try and remember, if you can say "it is" you can use it's, otherwise it is the other its e.g. the dog wagged its tail!
Here is another word for the junior bloggers to find out the meaning of! "entourage".
Today is still pretty cool! A Partridge flew into the downstairs window and ended up with a broken neck, so it became Alfred and Garra's supper--Alan said he didn't feel like taking all the feathers off!

It was a nice very crisp fall day today around 4 c so we went for a short walk. Steph slept over last night so she came along too!
Guin and Allen are making supper tonight, bless them! So I can catch up on my fun stuff!
Here's another word for my young Viewers! "Entourage" means...................?
Did you know that the famous London red double decker buses, the "Routemasters" (they have 72 seats) are to be replaced by "bendy" buses? These long articulated buses with 129 seats in a single decker or a more modern 88 seat double decker. There are around 250 red buses still plying London's routes and around 1,000 new buses have been introduced.
After Hurricane Ivan, in Grenada, 93% of the nutmeg trees were uprooted. It takes 15 yrs. before a new tree can bear fruit. The practice of spreading nutmeg shells along garden paths unleashes an exotic aroma when people walk on them. We toured a nutmeg factory when we were in Grenada a few years ago and saw all the nutmeg and mace drying on racks. Indonesia is the world's largest producer of nutmeg in the world. Grenada was the second, so this Hurricane will devastate the island's economy. The last hurricane to hit Grenada was Hurricane Janet in 1955.
93% of the homes in Grenada lost their roofs in the last Hurricane and everyone now has a blue tarp. roof.
In Switzerland are fervent hikers! The fact that 100% of the country is either uphill or downhill produces and almost perfect gene pool of potential hikers! (Winnipeg Free Press, Sat. Oct.16th)
10hr. long episodes--the first 2 hrs are on Sunday (today) --mini profiles of 50 Cnadians--Mon. and Wed. 1 hr. episodes--and then we can all vote on them. Check out C.B.C.

Another Friday--how October is flying!
Alfred and Garra just got back from a week in Reno, Nevada. They weremeeting relatives for a 50th birthday celebration. We are invited for supper tomorrow so can catch up on their doings!
Steph is sleeping over tomorrow too, she just wants to play Sims--she is addicted I think!
Another cold day-high of about 4 C. Two more days of cool and then a warmer day on Tuesday.
Guin and Allen finally got their Jeep fixed so now have a set of wheels again. They borrowed our Focus today.
Some new words for the younger generation to find the meaning of! "Virago" is a -------?
A Kenyan environmentalist was given the Nobel Peace Prize. The firsr ever African woman to receive the prize--Dr. Wangari Maathai--started an environmental movement that has planted 30 million trees. Last year the prize was also awarded to a woman, Shirin Ebudi, in recognition of her work promoting the rights of women and children in Iran.
Did you know that Alfred Nobel, the Swedish inventor of dynamite, established the prize in 1895.
I have to learn how to unload scanned pics. onto my blog to make it more interesting!
I must now go and watch Coronation St! It has been switched to Prime Time, how about that!!

Well, come on now, what are your scariest movies?
I mean the ones that you are still thinking about years after you have seen them!
Some of mine are "Alien" pretty well all of them but the first one was the best -that scene where the Alien came out from behind the ship's interior was finger nail-biting time!
I also found 'The serpent and the Rainbow" very frightening and "Missing". I liked the original one best although Keefer Sutherland did a respectable job in the second movie.
When I was 10yrs. old we saw an old movie with Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour in it. In one scene they were going to feed one of the natives to the crocodiles! I had nightmares for weeks!!
I'll probably think of more as I let my mind roam and will post them on my blog!
Next week the new auditorium is going to open with a bang up gala of events, so I'll let you know how it goes!

Polio was almost completely eradicated and then Islamic religious leaders, among others, backed a vaccination boycott on the claim it caused infertility and spread HIV.
I remember when I was younger and the vaccine was discovered, everyone was just ovejoyed that one of the childhood diseases would finally be eradicated. When Roy was young, he got polio in his legs and said the pain was really bad. Today a lot of older people who had polio as children now have what is known as "post polio syndrome".
How can the extremists be so shortsighted? Comments!

I made some goofs on last night's blog so some stuff didn't get posted! I will remedy the situation!
In Edmonton, England--apparently a non too salubrious place to live in--the council were planning to build some new 'flats' (apartments-to you non-Limeys!) When they started excavating, they unearthed the remains of a Roman road, piles of pottery and animal bones from an astonishingly large Roman camp. It is about 10km from London on the main road north and may well have been a rest stop for legions. Elizabeth 1 used to gallop in the once fresh air and wooded hills, as did her father Henry VIII.
The Maldives are a group of islands southwest of Sri Lanka and India. They are very well known for the superb conditions for scuba diving. About 80,000 people live on Male, the capital and it is less than 2sq.km. The Maldivians are building a new island as it is forecasted that the Maldives will be flooded as global warming destroys their islands. They are doing something incredibly fantastic and are building another island--they think this will give them another 50 yrs. time before things get even worse.
Two things for Techies!
A Ka-on machine will let you talk to your plants! Ka-on is Japanese for flower sound. It has a donut-shaped magnet and coil at the base of a vase and hooks up to a stereo, CD player or TV.!
A gizmo called the Frankfurter Converter will let you turn wieners into Octodogs! It looks like an octopus --check their website at www.octodog.net

Hello again everyone!
Today was a preview of late fall weather--we reached the glorious high of 6 C!
We sure had a super family supper on sunday and also Amy and Eric and baby Chris came too. We were all stuffed--yum! That's what Thanksgiving's are for! Everyone made stuff and Guin and Allen did a major portion of the cooking here, bless them!
I'd better get another logic puzzle posted right away--Alan is getting impatient!
All the "A" puzzles have statements that are all true and help you solve the puzzle. Later on, we get into the false statements.
Puzzle 2A-Halloween Costumes
For Halloween one year four children, who are good friends, decided that they would each wear a different costume for trick or treating together. One wore a skeleton costume, one dressed up as a pirate, one wore a scary witch costume, and one dressed up as Robin Hood.
From the statements that follow, what is the surname (one is Finley) of each child, and what was the costume that each wore?
1. Jimmy and Molly, neither of whom wore a pirate costume or a witch costume, are brother and sister.
2. The Smith boy lives across the street from Jimmy and Molly, he didn't wear a witch costume.
3. Billy lives several blocks away, and he didn't wear a pirate costume.
4. The one who wore a skeleton costume was the hit of the evening. He was not Sam.
5. One of the Dixons wore a Robin Hood costume.
surname costume
Billy
Jimmy
Molly
Sam
I will post the solution to this in a week as I was late getting out and it will give you more time to do it!

She is a very bossy boss, so I have to watch my P's and Q's! Ha! Ha!
we didn't get back from Winnipeg until late last night. so I spent today trying to put my feet up as my legs were swollen from travelling and hips were bad from arthrits--complain! complain!
Shelby saw the specialist and also a wound nurse, so we were at the hospital for over 3 hrs. The doctor wants to see her again in 3 weeks. She was given 2 prescriptions for antibiotics and some pills for her veins.
We managed to do some shopping at Polo Park on Wednesday and then went to see "Ladder 49" in the evening. It was well done and of course, made us think about the firefighters of 9/11. I recommend ir and would give it a Good rating.
The next day we went to Portage Place and the Forks, so got all pooed out again.!
Today Guin and Allen went and bought all the groceries we need for Thanksgiving. All the family will be over and also Amy and Eric and Chrisisen, their little 2 yr. old son.
I went to the Body Shop and bought some nice smelly stuff!
Pause now while I go back and read my Comments from my Blog and see if anyone did get the puzzle!

We just finished watching "The Alamo" and it was OK as a blood and guts film
Well, here is the answwer you have all been waiting for to the Logic puzzle The Four Vehicles!
Four vehicles.
Considerations. From statement 1, Mr. Terrill drives a white vehicle, which is not the sedan. From statements 2 nd 5, Mrs. Terrill drives the pickup truck, which is red. From statement 3 the vehicle Johnny drives to school is not the roadster, and from statement 4 , since the 2 vehicles remaining for Johnny are the sedan and the SUV , he drives the sports utility vehicle. (The SUV is brand new). It is yellow. The antique vehicle is the sedan, it is green.
Summary solutions:
Mr. Terrill white roadster
Mrs. Terrill red truck
Johnny yellow sports utility vehicle
extra car green sedan.
how did you do?! It got me thinking !
Shelby and I leave tomorrow for Winnippeg as she has to see the specialist so I'll say good night as it is getting late and will post a blog on Thursday:)

Hi world! Just finished watching the movie "The Alamo" it was pretty good, as we all know the outcome there are no surprises in that direction, but it was quite well done for a blood and guts type of film.
Well. I know you are all waiting for the answer to my Logic puzzle yesterday! I guess I should have put it in the puzzle category. Here is the answer to the Four Vehicles puzzle.
Mr. Terrill white roadster
Mrs. Terrrill red truck
Johnny yellow sports utility vehicle
extra car green sedan.
I will do another one next week!
Tomorrow I leave for Winnipeg with Shelby as she has her specialist appointment. so we should be able to do a bit of shopping as well if we are not to long seein the doctor.
Guin and Allen were telling me about The Project for the New American Century--PNAC.org. Apparently it is a very scary fundamentalist Christian site. I haven't seen it yet, but it gives me the creeps thinking about such people in power in the States.
There is a new little toy out calles a Tamagotchi, marketed as the Tamagochi Connection and you can see them on the www. bandai. com.
It was cold again today but tomorrow is supposed to go up to 19! Yeah!
We are going up with Alfred and Garra which will save us a one way bus fare.
Will chat again on Thursday! Cas :)

yesterday we saw a blue jay and also some chickadees so I guess we'll have to buy some bird seed soon! Today is Oct.3rd.
Another sight yesterday on our drive into town was the remains of a skunk! Phew! What a smell!
Here's a topic for my blog--try to think of some of the stinkiest things ever!
I would have to say that aside from skunk, I would also list rotten eggs and the decaying, bloated body of a dead horse--we saw this in Antigua--it was awful!
Another topic for discussion! what are some of the scariest movies you have ever seen? Mine would have to include "Alien", "Psycho" (the original), I like the pyschological type thrillers which are often very scary!
Here' s hint from my old Tai Chi instructor for you--if you go shopping to a mall or somewhere and your car is rather isolated, check under the car before opening with a key--thieves have been known to grab people by the ankles. pull them down and rob them!
Yesterday we went to the Craft Market an annual show featuring artisans, cooking etc It was quite crowded and we didn't get there until the last 2 hrs. of the show.
A very good TV show is on the History channel on Thursdays called "Are You Tough Enough". It features the training regime of the SAS and although for the TV series it is only 10 days long --the real SAS training is 6 months long--it does give you some idea of what they have to go throught to pass the entry course. As my nephew, Gawain, is in the SAS and went through this I find it fascinating. Only 5% of the people who go into the training course, pass it.
Do you know the "Alien" collectors edition-the quadrilogy is out now!
I promised you all a Logic puzzle, so here it is!

The Terrill family includes Mr. & Mrs. Terrill and their teenage son, Johnny. The family owns four vehicles: a roadster, a sedan, a popular new sports -utility vehicle, and a pickup truck. 1. Mr. Terrill drives the white vehicle, which is not the sedan, to and from work daily.
2. The truck has fewer miles on it than the yellow vehicle, the green vehicle or the white vehicle.
3. The vehicle Johnny drives to school is not the roadster.
4. One vehicle, which is green, is over 50 yrs. old, and is used only during antique car rallies.
5. Mrs. Terrill prefers to drive the red vehicle.
