Some catch up stuff to do!

Another Friday--how October is flying!
Alfred and Garra just got back from a week in Reno, Nevada. They weremeeting relatives for a 50th birthday celebration. We are invited for supper tomorrow so can catch up on their doings!
Steph is sleeping over tomorrow too, she just wants to play Sims--she is addicted I think!
Another cold day-high of about 4 C. Two more days of cool and then a warmer day on Tuesday.
Guin and Allen finally got their Jeep fixed so now have a set of wheels again. They borrowed our Focus today.

Some new words for the younger generation to find the meaning of! "Virago" is a -------?

A Kenyan environmentalist was given the Nobel Peace Prize. The firsr ever African woman to receive the prize--Dr. Wangari Maathai--started an environmental movement that has planted 30 million trees. Last year the prize was also awarded to a woman, Shirin Ebudi, in recognition of her work promoting the rights of women and children in Iran.

Did you know that Alfred Nobel, the Swedish inventor of dynamite, established the prize in 1895.

I have to learn how to unload scanned pics. onto my blog to make it more interesting!

I must now go and watch Coronation St! It has been switched to Prime Time, how about that!! smiley

I did a project in high school about the Nobel prizes and I still remember a lot about it. The thing I thought was the biggest shame is that when Alfred Nobel left in his will to use his money to set up the prizes, his family faught to keep the money for themselves. Alfred had left them some, but they wanted it all. They lost their challenge, so now we have the Nobel prizes. It may not have been though!
