This is a pic of Thomas's cakes on his birthday. This is the only pic I can upload right now! My disc drive is frozen--full and will not let me do any more iphotos. I've tried deleteing some files but need some tec help from Guin when she's back from Ottawa. I was surprised when I was able to do the cake pic otherwise this blog would have been a text blog only!
I've been out golfing and practising with my new driver! It works so well! I had a lesson on chipping last Tuesday and learned quite a bit. The seniors' tourny is on Tuesday August 9th and althought I have only a snowball's chance of doing anything at all, at least I'm being positive and entering it!
It's been a great summer for playing! I want to get a game in with the boys and also some of the grandkids!
Well, yesterday we went to Harry Dzeoba's 80th birthday party at the Go Getters senior Centre. Dad knows Harry from the Flying Club and there was a good crowd there. Guess who was there? Yvette, an old friend of mine! She left Dryden in 1969 and I taught her swimming at the old outdoor pool. Her daughter, Lynn, was there too and her two of her sons. One was Wayne and the other son was from her second marriage. Lynn remembers you, Sally and all the boys and said to say hello! She is now a very pretty girl with big brown eyes. She said she still has a photo of you, Sally, and you were pushing your doll carriage! It was nice to see them again.
We caught up on our new lives and what we'd done since we'd last seen each other and we gave big hugs for old times sake!
It is still warm although we had a thunderstorm last night which kept me awake a lot!
Shelby was over for supper last night and we went grocery shopping after going to the tea.
"Deadwood" the new season, will start in the fall--I can hardly wait to see all the conniving, swearing characters again! Al Swearengen is an absolute villain! The setting was once a ranch owned by Gene Autry, an old western movie star. Now additional sets are built there and Mr. Wu's pigs are waiting for more dead bodies to gorge on!! The series creator is David Milch.
For info on Deadwood itself, check out DeadwoodIt's really interesting to see a picture of Robin Weigert, who plays Calamity Jane, and is a really gorgeous woman!! (check out the "Cast visits Deadwood"
hope the link works! love Carol. Grandma xoxoxo

Just a few more pics that weren't uploaded last post. The pic of the pool is when the kids were swimming down to the deep end.
It was a fun day!
This evening is still warm and tomorrow is supposed to be back to 30!
The last couple of days were quite a bit cooler--in the low 20's
Last night Roy and I put on the DVD "Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygene Moscow" which he composed as a celebration of Moscow's 850th birthday. What an awesome experience!! The music was very futuristic and the laser and fireworks were just incredible! My sister, Sallie, used to like Jarre's music and had quite a few of his tapes. We were just entranced! It was the first time I saw anyone play a theremin--an electronic instrument. I asked Roy if he could build one for Dec.23d so the grandkids and adults too could play it! He said he could-- Yay!!

Well. today was the day for the Bond girl, Stephanie, to learn a bit of scuba diving!
There was a special course for 10 to 12 year olds and 5 girls and 6 boys had signed up.
They split the kids up into two groups and the boys went and did the snorkelling first and the girls did the scuba part first.
They learned some of the basics--how to use the P.F.D.'s Personal Floatation Devices, and get all the air out in order to descend, and then they learned about the regulators and how to breathe with them. The next step was to put on all the equipment and swim around the shallow end and then after a brief regroup, they all went into THE BLUE! Down they descended into the 12ft deep end and swam around there and then up again.
After Steph had done the scuba part then they went and did the snorkel part. They had to retrieve stuff off the bottom, clear their masks and all the usual snorkel stuff.
She came out of the change rooms after and said to Roy and me "It's just so exciting! I'm not nervous now that I know all the parts and what to do! I really want to learn more! When can we have another family reunion!"
Looks like we'll have to save up for a couple of years and go on another Caribbean trip, or even Mexico--the water there is very clear to and both Guin and I went scuba diving there. It's also fairly cheap in comparison to other place.
We went to the Chip Box after to reinforce the carb loss!!
That was the main part of our dayt!
Hope you enjoy the post!
Love Mom, Carol. etc xoxoxo :-)

I have been having mega problems with my hard drive space and also I was unable to access my Blog site! I am now about at least 2 weeks behind in my posts! have patience everyone! I will catch up in the next few days!
Here's a few pics of my actual birthday on July 6th--Roy and I went out for supper to our favurite place for us as that's where we had our wedding reception back in 1970. We had a very nice supper--I tried the lamb chops demi-glace with mint jelly and baked potato and fresh vegetables. Roy had his favourite Chicken Kiev! We both pigged out on Rolo cake for dessert!
The weather here has been incredibly hot and humid --temperature in the high 30's with a Humidex over 40. The U.V. reading has been over 8 or even 9 at times.so we have to wear lots of sunscreen.
I was out golfing this morning trying out my new Big Berth Driver--special birthday present from the family! Wow1 What an awesome club ! I'm glad I can try to swing it!
Details of birthday and pics will follow!
I'm having some problems with my copying and pasting, so be patient! I'll check my blog so far!!
